St. Patrick’s School Pajigwad Scouts Troop has attained the Frank Cooper Sands Gold Award for the 15th consecutive year. This would not have been possible without the support and efforts of the school leaders, staff, Scouts teachers and the Scouts. In 2019-2020, our Scouts continued to engage in national and global troop events.
East Area Field Day
Troops from primary and secondary schools gather for a morning of orienteering and pioneering activities, as well as street soccer. Our Scouts get the opportunity to team up with Scouts from other schools for the former. Apart from honing their Scouting skills, the East Area Field Day saw Scouts forming stronger bonds with their troop mates.
Overseas School Exchange Programme
Our Scouts get the opportunity to do exchange programmes with schools in Taiwan. They take part in numerous activities such as outdoor cooking and campfire night. Despite the language barrier, our Scouts have managed to forge new friendships with the Taiwanese students.
This event allows our boys to mingle with Scouts from other ASEAN countries. The boys take part in a range of activities such as kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, dragon boating and many more exciting activities organised by the Singapore Scout Association. Through frequent interactions with other ASEAN Scouts, our Pajigwad Scouts are able to broaden their global perspectives.
VIA (Beach Clean-Up) with CHIJ Guides
This event sees the Scout seniors working together to plan a beach clean-up with the Guide seniors and presenting their ideas to the teachers. The beach clean-up takes place in East Coast Park. Equipped with gloves, trash bags and tongs, our Scouts work with the Guides to pick up the litter along the beach. This Values-in-Action (VIA) activity helps to encourage our Scouts to care for the beaches so that everyone can enjoy the clean environment.
